When I think about glowing skin and that effortless radiance, I know it’s not just about what I put on (or IN) my face. It’s about how I treat my whole self - starting from the INSIDE. Today, I want to share some holistic beauty secrets that have transformed my skin and and helped me shine naturally. Simple, loving habits that anyone can embrace, especially if you’re preparing for a special event or concerned about skin flare-ups.

How I Went From Adult Acne To Wearing No Makeup At All
The first step to radiant skin is understanding that beauty starts from within. I’ve learned that what I eat, how I hydrate, quality sleep and even how I breathe plays a huge role in how my skin looks and feels.
I Transformed My Skin By Doing These Key Actions :
Hydration is key. I bought a water distiller, the best tool I have ever bought. Not only does it suck (almost all) of the nasties out, but I can use it without any qualms, in my internal colonic enemas and homemade beauty potions I love to create. *Remember to add Celtic sea salt into the water to re-mineralise. Distilled water is essentially "dead" water because everything has been depleted, good and bad.
(See my blog post about clean water for more insights here)
Learn how to track your hormonal cycle. Once you understand your cycle and how your hormones shift each week, you can adjust how you eat, exercise, fast, and care for your body in a way that supports your unique needs. You’ll start tapping into your innate feminine intuition, allowing you to truly listen to your body instead of stressing or pushing yourself too hard.
Eat vibrant, whole foods. Colourful fruits and vegetables are packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals. I love berries, cabbage, and sweet potatoes for their skin-loving vitamins.
Sugar Detox. I can’t stress enough how important this is. I say it over and over- you need to cut out sugar completely (a full detox for at least 14 days) to truly see the benefits in your body, skin, and eyes. It’s one of the toughest habits to break, mostly because people often don’t even realise when they’re consuming it! (oh did I
mention DAIRY... yep, sorry cheese lovers, detoxing from dairy is a game-changer, but it is a nuanced topic, so please see the blog for the full tea)
Fatty Acids nourish your skin. Women can benefit from various Omega fatty acids :
- Omega-3 helps reduce inflammation and supports heart and brain health
- Omega-6 aids in maintaining skin and hair growth
- Omega-9 promotes balanced cholesterol and overall wellness.
However, many people get too much Omega-6 from processed foods and not enough Omega-3, which is found in sources like fatty fish, chia seeds, and flaxseeds.
Most nutritionists recommend avocado, nuts and seeds for getting essential fats, but there are much better options:
Sardines: Affordable, nutrient-dense, and packed with omega-3s.
Anchovies: Small but mighty, often used in Mediterranean diets.
Trout: A freshwater fish with a strong omega-3 profile.
Plant-Based Alternatives (ALA)
Seaweed and Algae: a great source of DHA and EHA
Soybeans & tofu: Provide ALA omega-3s along with protein.
Brussels sprouts: A surprising vegetable source of ALA
Mindful breathing and stress management. Stress can wreak havoc on your skin. Doing a gentle yoga practice at home, or joining a qi gong class are excellent ways to calm the mind and support your skin’s natural repair.
By focusing on these internal habits, I’ve noticed not only my skin feels more alive and radiant every day but people comment that I am radiant and glowing!

Skin"care" or skin Demons?
Now, let’s talk about what I do on the outside. My skincare routine is simple but intentional. I avoid harsh chemicals and instead choose gentle, organic products that respect my skin’s natural balance.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news (don't shoot the messenger) but most of the brands you are using, even the "french skincare" ones, are toxic. It only takes one lil scan using the Yuka App, to show all the nasties in the products meant to be "caring" for your skin, when in reality they are overwhelming your liver with heavy metals and toxins which in turn, shows in you skin.
Here’s my go-to routine:
Cleanse with care. I use a mild, organic cleansing balm that removes impurities without stripping moisture. Great on eye makeup too. Neal's Yard Remedies | Wild Rose Beauty Balm 50g
Exfoliate weekly. Forget harsh scrubs I love a liquid mandelic acid (naturally derived from Almonds). Apply like a serum, leave for 10 minutes, then wipe off. Geek & Gorgeous - Cheer Up
Hydrate and protect. I apply a nourishing serum packed with antioxidants. My faves are PAI skincare (you can get it in M&S stores) this trio of serum boosters are my absolute GO-TO's: Booster Discovery Kit | Skincare Set for Sensitive Skin | Pai Skincare
Sun protection. Even on cloudy days, I wear a natural SPF tinted drops to protect my skin from damage whilst evening out blemishes with just enough coverage that my skin still looks and feels "naked" SPF 50 Tinted Mineral Drops • Flex-Perfecting® Sunscreen • Niacinamide – Odacité
I also love incorporating facial massages and facial cupping using natural oils like rosehip or jojoba. This boosts circulation and gives my skin a natural lift.

The Power of Organic Makeup: Enhancing Your Glow Safely
One of the most exciting discoveries I’ve made is how organic makeup can enhance my natural beauty without compromising my skin’s health. Unlike conventional makeup, organic products are free from harmful chemicals, synthetic fragrances, and irritants. This means my skin breathes better, and my overall health is nourished.
Here’s why I love organic makeup:
It’s kind to sensitive skin. Perfect if you’re pregnant, planning a baby, or have delicate skin.
It nourishes while it beautifies. Many organic cosmetics contain skin-loving ingredients like aloe vera, chamomile, and vitamin E.
It boots your liver and hormonal health. Organic, low-tox or non-toxic cosmetics are gentler on the liver and support the body’s regenerative functions, aiding its natural detoxification processes. Much better than mainstream make-up if you have any kind of health conditions or auto-immune issues.
If you’re heading to a wedding, party, or any special event, booking an organic makeup session can be a game-changer. It’s a chance to feel pampered and confident, knowing your skin is cared for beneath the makeup.
